Fork it! Podcast - Summer Chronicles Edition 🎙️☀️
Podcast
Participating in the Fork It! podcast was a rewarding experience. I had the chance to discuss subjects that matter to me: from artificial intelligence and ethics to cybersecurity and eco-design, alongside Clément Michel, Yoann Fleury and Yono.
Artificial Intelligence: the future of work
Artificial intelligence is a compelling tool, able to greatly influence the way we think our work. From my experience moving from a technical to a commercial role, I’ve seen how AI supports decision-making and efficiency, yet it also challenges privacy, ethics, and job roles.
I compared modern AI to Blindsight’s “Chinese Room”: brilliant at producing answers, but without real understanding. Many people, too, act automatically without reflecting, a kind of “organic AI.” For me, this is why critical thinking remains vital in a world increasingly guided by algorithms.
AI won’t replace humans; it will transform how we work. Creativity, empathy, and curiosity will be our most valuable assets. But with this power comes responsibility, technology must serve people, not the other way around.
Cybersecurity and preparedness
We also talked about cybersecurity, especially after the CrowdStrike incident. I insisted that security must be part of design, not an afterthought. Prevention is always cheaper than reaction. My advice is simple: keep teams trained, systems monitored, and vigilance constant, as cyber threats evolve daily.
Doom for eco-design
Then, we explored a lighter but meaningful topic: eco-design in tech, illustrated through the iconic game Doom. Comparing web page sizes to Doom’s data weight is a playful yet efficient way to remind developers of performance and carbon impact. Through my work organizing international events, I’ve seen more and more teams adopt sustainable practices, proof that innovation and responsibility can go hand in hand.
Web carbon footprint
Following the steps of Yoann, Yono finally discusses why some websites can weight heavier than some OS. He highlights impacts on data-centers, inefficiencies in CMS like Wordpress. Moreover, he urges measuring and reducing web carbon footprint. Yono also notes misguided green tips and wasteful tooling.
This episode mixes humor, reflection, and concrete advice on the challenges shaping our digital future. You can listen to the episode on the Fork It! Community website or our YouTube channel. Join us in this adventure of learning and innovation!
